Can anyone identify this man?

This statue is of a Kyrgyz historian, in the Chon-Kemin Valley. He was killed by the Russians.
Can anyone tell me his name or anything about him?

Bondi to the Baltic: THE BOOK

Yes folks, the book of our drive from Australia to Finland in those two wonderful vintage cars will be out, hopefully, in early 2020. I'm on the final edit now. Sorry it's taken so long but I've found that there is more to it than pasting all the blogposts together.
The whole crew has had input and helped me along the way with photos and memories of incidents and experiences.
